Billing & Refunds

API Refund Policy

How refunds, cancellations, and the 30-day Hobby trial work for the Raindrop precipitation data API. You can cancel any self-serve plan anytime from the Stripe billing portal.

Last updated: June 9, 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies to paid subscriptions to the Raindrop precipitation data API (the Hobby, Starter, Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans). It supplements our Terms of Service; where the two conflict on billing, this policy controls for API subscriptions.

2. Subscription billing

Paid API plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle, depending on the interval you select at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each cycle until cancelled. All payments are processed by Stripe, and prices are charged in U.S. dollars.

3. Hobby plan — 30-day free trial

The Hobby plan includes a 30-day free trial. A payment method is required to start the trial, but you are not charged during it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the plan automatically converts to a paid annual subscription of $100/year. You can cancel at any point during the trial from the Stripe billing portal to avoid that charge.

4. Refund window

For paid plans, you may request a full refund within 7 days of the initial charge for a new subscription, provided the refund is requested in good faith and the API has not been subject to excessive or abusive use during that period. This 7-day window applies to your first purchase of a plan; it does not reset on automatic renewals.

5. Renewals

Automatic renewal charges (the start of a new monthly or annual cycle) are generally non-refundable. Because we email a receipt before each renewal and you can cancel at any time, we ask that you cancel before a renewal date if you do not intend to continue. If a renewal charge was clearly unintended, contact us and we will review it case by case.

6. Cancellations

You can cancel any self-serve plan at any time from the Stripe billing portal. When you cancel, your plan stays active through the end of the current billing cycle, and you will not be charged again. We do not prorate or refund the unused portion of a cycle except as described in the refund window above.

7. Non-refundable circumstances

Refunds are generally not available for: usage that exceeds your plan’s rate limits, charges older than the 7-day window, accounts suspended or terminated for violating our Terms of Service, or partial-month/partial- year usage outside the refund window. Taxes already remitted to a tax authority may also be non-refundable.

8. Enterprise plans

Enterprise agreements are governed by the refund, cancellation, and renewal terms set out in their individual order form or master services agreement, which take precedence over this page. If you are an Enterprise customer, contact your account representative or help@raindrop.farm.

9. How to request a refund

Email help@raindrop.farm from the address associated with your subscription. Include the plan name and the approximate date of the charge so we can locate it quickly. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated by email. Continued use of the API after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
